Youth Support Worker

Rutland’s Young People’s Services Team provide activities that help build the local community and meet young people’s needs, especially those who are more vulnerable.

Young People’s Services play a key role in young people's educational and social development.

We offer a range of services and support for children and young people, which include a Mentoring Service, Advocacy Service, Wellbeing Service, targeted short programmes, as well as focused clubs.


Our Youth Engagement Workers plan, organise and oversee community programmes aimed at young people. Working directly with children and young people, helping them to build life skills, develop healthy relationships and make decisions that are right for them.


An interest in music, film, sport or social media would be an advantage.


The volunteer would:

  • Support the youth work team providing day to day support and advice to young people accessing the provision.
  • Contribute to the planning of a wide range of engaging sessions for young people attending activities. 



Skills

Essential:

·       The ability to provide a positive role model for young people

·       Passionate about young people and delivering services that improve outcomes

·       Creative, resourceful and flexible

·       Understanding and promotion of equal opportunities


Useful:

·       Ability to engage at times hard to reach young people and confidently challenge negative

behaviours.

·       Experience of empowering young people to be heard within their community, challenge

stereotyping and seek opportunities to shed a positive light on young people’s contribution.

·       Experience of delivering youth clubs and community development

A background in supporting and motivating individuals to achieve their potential
