St John Ambulance is recruiting Youth Leaders and Helpers to support the opening of a new Cadet Unit in Oakham. This is a great opportunity for 10 to 17 years old young people in the area to join a uniform youth organisation to learn vial first aid skills along with developing their resilience, teamworking, communication and leadership in a safe, supported environment. The Unit will meet at The Odd House, one evening each week. Session times are to be confirmed but likely to be no more that 90 minutes. Volunteers should expect to commit to around 2 to 3 hours each week. All training for the role is provided with a mixture of online learning, virtual and face-to-face courses - some essential training may need to be completed at weekends. Full support for the role is available and provided by a district team of volunteers. A uniform will provided and reasonable expenses are reimbursed. Once volunteers have settled into their role they may consider other voluntary opportunities within St John Ambulance such as operational first aiders (event cover), logistics support and volunteer management.
