The service supports children and young people with special education needs and disabilities as well as young carers.
Volunteers support children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities aged up to 25 at various activities including youth clubs, gaming, Dungeons and Dragons, sport, dance, art etc.
Volunteers also support young carers at the monthly groups run in Oakham.
You will:
- Help children/young people stay safe whilst taking part in activities
- Help children/young people enjoy and stay occupied at activities
- Encourage full participation at activities
- Help give relevant support to promote the development of social skills and independence
- Perform individual tasks to meet the needs of an individual
- Be allocated to one child/young person or to a small group
- Assist in setting up and clearing away the room
- Communicate issues or concerns to the session leader
