Secretary

We are seeking a volunteer to join the Committee of the Rutland Fairtrade Forum, as Secretary. The Secretary will be responsible for taking minutes at our meetings, ensuring that actions are agreed and assigned. Meetings are held approximately once every two months, either online or in Oakham. In between meetings we hold events to raise awareness of Fairtrade and we lobby local businesses and organisations to support Fairtrade. As a Committee member, there will be opportunities for the Secretary to help organise these activities, but the level of input can be tailored according to the role holder's skills and other time commitments.

Skills

The role holder should have good written communication skills, should be able to use MS Word and should be comfortable working as part of a small team. The role holder should be enthusiastic about the key aims of Fairtrade, i.e. better prices, decent working conditions and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. The role holder must be able to attend meetings in Oakham. These normally take place on a weekday evening at 7pm.

About Rutland Fairtrade Forum

The Rutland Fairtrade Forum works with local business, schools and community organisations to promote Fairtrade. The Forum organises a series of events during the year, including an annual Fairtrade Christmas Market. The Rutland Fairtrade Forum is responsible for ensuring that Rutland retains its status as a Fairtrade County, with the support of Rutland County Council.
