Dementia Group volunteer

Would you like to join a small friendly team offering group sessions supporting those living with mild dementia? Weekly sessions are held in Oakham for those living with mild to moderate dementia, aimed at encouraging , strengthening, maintaining, stimulating and fun in a friendly and enjoyable setting. Activities include discussions of past and present events, topics of interest, games, puzzles, music and more. Sessions are led by a facilitator and 2 volunteers at each session. Volunteers are encouraged to contribute to activities with ideas and share any appropriate skills. Full support and training is available. Specific duties include help with refreshments (tea/coffee) and setting up and clearing away after session.

The pandemic has caused more loneliness and isolation, we urgently need more volunteers to help us in providing more support and social contact for older people in Rutland. We welcome anyone over 18 and we are very flexible in our approach.
