Activity/ play group supported for children and young people with special educational need and/or disabilities

Rutland Rotaract Family Support Centre (RRFSC) aims to provide social, recreational, educational, and therapeutic support to children and young people (0-25) with additional needs and their families. We cater for families with a range of needs, as well as those who have no formal diagnosis. During term time we provide SEN lessons for swimming, horse riding and drumming and support group via a coffee morning. During the school holidays we provide activities such Farm Visits, Summer BBQs, Christmas Lunch, Stay and Play sessions and Chat and Chill at the park, as well as reduced cost trips at various locations. Sometimes due to popularity of the sessions or the many activities going on at our Stay and Play sessions we are in need of volunteers who are happy to go onto our list and be asked on a ad hoc basis for help at the activities, this can range from being hands on helping the children with an activity to lending a listening ear to the parents and carers to helping hand out refreshment. If you would be interested in talking more for filling out one of our volunteer forms. Please contact Jessica Email: info@rrfsc.org.uk Telephone: 07402090603

About Rutland Rotaract Family Support Centre

Rutland Rotaract Family Support Centre (RRFSC) aims to provide social, recreational, educational, and therapeutic support to children and young people (0-25) with additional needs and their families. We cater for families with a range of needs, as well as those who have no formal diagnosis.
During term time we hold friendly, informal peer support coffee morning for parents/carers/family members of children and young people with disabilities or additional needs, usually the third Thursday of the month.
We also have special needs swimming lessons at Oakham C of E school on Saturdays during term time and our older group now swim at Oakham school on a Friday evening. Horse-riding lessons are also held on Tuesdays and Saturdays during term time at Chestnut farm stables East Norton. Drumming lessons which are held Wednesdays after school also during term time at our Office at Oakham Enterprise Park (please note there are stairs to our office and the buildings lift is currently out of use).
We hold social meet ups and seasonal activities during the school holidays such as a lambing session, summer BBQ/ picnic, chat and chill meet up sessions at various locations, organised family trips, Christmas meals and a yearly panto, Stay and Play sessions, messy play/ craft session and stable days. This gives families the chance to meet socially and many friendships have followed as a result.
You do not have to be a resident in Rutland to access our activities because our funding is charitable and not linked to the Local Authority. We do not operate a formal referral process. If your child has additional needs and would benefit from accessing our activities, we will be happy to give them this opportunity. Your child does not need a formal diagnosis to access our activities or for the parent/carer to partake in support offered. Please see our website for more information. Alternatively, you can email info@rrfsc.org.uk and ask for a membership form, fill that in and return the form to us via email or post. Your contact information will be added to our database, and you will automatically be emailed information about the charity and its events.
